Montgomery County contains 203 chartered special districts, 10 school districts and 15 taxing cities. The county rate for tax year 2025 is 0.377% of assessed value. Every figure here is computed from Texas Comptroller records and republished under CC BY 4.0.
162 of those districts are municipal utility districts — the tax line that most often surprises a new-construction buyer. Across the 107 MUDs with an adopted rate for tax year 2025, the median rate is 1.000% of assessed value — one full dollar per $100 — and 78 of them levy a debt-service rate that exists to repay construction bonds. The Comptroller's databases are per-district; no agency publishes county-level rollups. These aggregates are computed here from the Comptroller's per-district records.
The Comptroller publishes tax rates. The appraisal district publishes values. Nobody publishes the two together at the level a buyer actually needs — which units contain a given neighbourhood, and what they add up to.
